Another Updates Blog, What did you expect?

Hello everyone!

Things here are going to be slowing down a little bit because school started today (bleh) and I'll be doing several after school activities this year. So from now on until next Summer break, book reviews will most likely be every other week. I will hopefully still be updating this blog regularly, but in order for me to do that, I'm going to need some stuff to blog about. So comment on this post with some questions and I'll try to answer them in a future blog post!

This is a short entry, I know, but subscribe to this blog and Flipping the Pages to be updated on when the next one goes up!

Until then, Au Revoir!!

More Updates

Hello! :)

So, a couple of things have happened lately and I thought I'd give you guys an update.

First, I posted  my first review on my other blog, Flipping the Pages. It's for "The Goddess Test" by Aimée Carter. It's a great book. I encourage you guys to check it out! Next week's review will be the sequel to "The Goddess Test", "Goddess Interrupted". After that, well, we'll see!

Second, I combined my other two blogs, Flipping the Pages and Just Stopping By to Say Hi, into one big blog. I kept Flipping the Pages as the title. It is now going to be my 'professional' blog. It'll be for reviews, author guest posts, and blog tours! I'd love it if you guys checked it out!

Third, I recently became a part of Kismet Book Touring! So now, hopefully, I will be doing a lot of blog tours! I'm super excited for it!

Anyway, I guess that's it for now. Stay tuned for more!

Preview: The Deviates

Hello everyone. This is my first preview blog for one of my books. This one is for The Deviates. I don't have this one finished yet, but it's coming along. I'm not sure how many books are going to be in this series yet, but it will be at least 3. I posted part of this on my figment here: http://figment.com/books/286559-The-Deviates.  Check there for more! So, without further ado, The Deviates!

The Deviates by SP Harmon

This is a story of lies and deception, of love and betrayal, but above all else, it is the story of my life.

Welcome to The Academy for the Deviated. The students here may seem... different then the rest of society, but we assure you they are not insane, they simply have abilities that are beyond the comprehension of most.  Curious? Well step inside and we'll give you a formal tour. Let's begin with the arena. I believe you're just in time to watch our star pupil, Vixaria, perform for you...

Prologue

I am a secret keeper.
I’m not referring to petty secrets like not telling someone that you're romantically or sexually attracted to them.
I am a lie teller.
I don't mean big lies like committing murder and telling the cops you know nothing.
No. My lies and secrets are worse, much worse.
Let’s say you lived in a world you thought you knew. Life is normal, but then things start to happen around your eighth birthday. You don’t feel like yourself. You start to crave dark things, scary things people shouldn't crave. These things can range from the food you want to your emotions. You develop weird habits, inhuman-like habits. You see doctors and psychologists and beg for their help, but there’s nothing they can do. So, you take a deep breath to push away your fear and wait this all out, thinking, maybe, just maybe, you're slowly slipping into a state of insanity.
Unfortunately, the waiting doesn’t end.
It keeps on and on. There’s nothing you can do. Nothing until a man who wears a suit as black as the night sky with eyes and hair to match knocks on your door in the middle of dinner one night and claims he’s from a special academy and that he can help you with your recently developed “issues”. He takes you away. You're frightened at first, but then he gives you a small, blood-red pill. Warily, you take it. The desires and dark cravings that you’ve recently developed wash away almost instantaneously, and you feel relaxed for the first time in months. He takes you to a place that is old and very large, and at first glance, could easily be mistaken for a mental institution. It is actually a school, a school for people just like you.
There are people all over the world who have had this happen to them. They are the descendents of a great race that once existed forever ago whose special traits show up in random following generations. There is only one place for them to go, The Academy for the Deviated.
This is a story of lies and deception, of love and betrayal, but above all else, it is the story of my life.

And that's all I'll give you for now. So, what do you think? Like it? Hate it? Let me know!
